I have always volunteered. When I discovered the option to volunteer virtually, I loved it because I could work around the world without leaving home. I did not have professional experience, but I was doing things like designing websites and researching online. With the experience and references gained, I was hired to teach online, full time, which led me to becoming a proponent of the Internet as a tool for positive social change, such as for the use of the WWW to gain skills, become employed, find out about health matters, start a small business, or just connect. Since then, I have worked a great deal in the area of Internet Technology- teaching, volunteering, and learning. I recently started teaching younger kids online. When the pandemic hit, my IT classes were full for weeks. I feel these times have exposed a great deal about the possibility of the internet.
